Volunteer Bank
The Volunteer Bank is a new tool where volunteers create profiles of themselves including information about their skills /how they can volunteer to help a community group. Voluntary groups registered to be part of the scheme, can view all the profiles and contact volunteers directly to talk more about what they could do as a volunteer.
The Volunteer Bank is set up so that volunteer profiles do not remain up indefinitely but need to be refreshed if the person is still looking for someone.
Why offer skills in this way?
Volunteers help for short periods of time; these are not ongoing placements so many will then return and re-advertise themselves as and when they have time. The same is true of the groups, once they have used it once they then use it regularly. We firmly believe that this is one of the most effective ways of utilising business skills in the local community.
How do I get involved?
Volunteer Centre Camden is one of 4 Volunteer Centres working to develop Volunteer Bank and pilot this before it is made available to Volunteer Centres across London. One of our existing employer supported volunteering clients is designing the software to make this possible.
We are now taking registrations from businesses interested in getting involved. There will be a registration fee to help us purchase a licence to use the product and conduct the admin work to develop and support the project.
