Personal Assistant to the Trustee Recruitment Manager

The role will include making and confirming appointments, by email and telephone and helping the Trustee Recruitment Manager to perform all computer related tasks. Since he will highly rely on this volunteer, there is a minimum commitment of half a day a week. 

The Manager receives many communications per day and attends a number of internal and external meetings. The PA will ensure that relevant paperwork is available and delegate requests for information to other staff and volunteers. 

Ideally, the volunteer will have very strong MS office skills and be able to work independently.

Trustee

It is an exciting time to be involved with volunteering! Never before has volunteering been so high on the agenda at all levels of government, and this has established a platform where organisations with drive, imagination, fresh ideas and commitment can achieve great things! This means there is much for us to do. The Board developed a new business plan in 2011 which has resulted in clearer priorities for the organisation, an increased level of funding and many opportunities to raise the profile of volunteering.

The opportunity ...

Volunteer Centre Camden is looking to recruit new members to its Board of Trustees. The role would involve attendance at a bimonthly early evening meeting (held on the third Tuesday of every other month. You would be asked to attend occasional sub-committees or training sessions. Generally your role would be collectively, with other trustees, to oversee the smooth running of this small, but very effective charity. 

Trustees operate at a strategic level, and we are looking for people who will contribute to the group, put forward their suggestions and carry out agreed action points.

Volunteer Coordinator

As a volunteer co-ordinator you will be placed with an organisation that wants to involve more volunteers. Your role will be helping to recruit and support volunteers, encouraging them to develop their skills. This may involve arranging and conducting interviews, induction and training of new volunteers, on-going support and supervision of volunteers and more. We ask that you commit to a minimum of two days each week. 

Two co-ordinators will be placed in each organisation, so that you can help and support one another. 

To apply for this role, you must be unemployed though do not have to be claiming benefits. 

This would be good experience for anyone wanting to move into a management role or head up a team and would suit a 'people' person. You will develop skills in managing people, learning how to motivate, supervise and give feedback. Additionally, you will be entitled to a reference after 3 months' volunteering. Any travel and lunch expenses will be paid by your host organisation on the days you volunteer. Volunteer Centre Camden has excellent links with a local organisation with expertise in job searching, CV's, covering letters, application forms and practise for interviews. As well, you will have access to a jobclub. 

Full training will be given to equip you as a volunteer co-ordinator. This will include effective communication, introduction to volunteer management, equal opportunities and support and supervision of volunteers. There will be a chance to meet experienced volunteer managers. You will also take part in a peer support group with on-going training as required.
