Employability workshops for people who are long term unemployed
This is an exciting opportunity to help local people who are looking for paid employment. Volunteering in this way offers you and your business a chance to make a real positive change to someone in need of finding a paid job to enhance their quality of life.
This option can be delivered as a package of one off days of volunteering for a group of people. There are also options to extend this volunteering to offer on going coaching and support to people looking for paid work.
How would the day of volunteering work?
The day would be structured to provide either CV & application form workshops or mock interviews depending on your preferences. People who are looking for work will benefit from this support to help them get a paid job.
The day will be structured so that the morning will include a workshop to gain an understanding of the clients you will be working with and the types of employment that they will be looking for. For CV & application workshops the session will focus on these and challenges faced by clients. For interview sessions the workshop will include looking at the types of questions people typically find challenging and how to improve your interview technique to make the most of these. This will be training for staff who are experienced interviewers as well as being beneficial to those who are new to interviewing and recruitment. There will also be discussion about how to best give feedback, we want the day to be motivating for all involved!
How will this help people?
People who are long term unemployed and looking for this help and support will benefit from having input from private sector businesses in supporting them to get paid work. Being interviewed and discussing CV’s with people who don’t have an on-going relationship with this is vital.
This is a good development opportunity for your staff who can gain training and experience in interviewing and recruitment techniques.
